Private investigator claims to identify driver of D4Vd’s Tesla involved in Celeste Rivas case

More than a month after the remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas were found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to musician David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4Vd, a private investigator claims to have identified who was driving the car when it was abandoned.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Rivas' “head and torso” were discovered on September 8 at a Hollywood tow yard after staff reported a strong odour from a Tesla that had sat there for five days. The teenager had been missing from Lake Elsinore since April 2024, when she was 13.

Private investigator Steve Fischer, hired by the owner of the Hollywood Hills mansion D4Vd had been renting, said, “I’m certain I know who it is. I can’t say, but there is surveillance from the 29th, and I’m certain I know who this person is.” He confirmed that the footage has been handed to police.

The LAPD executed a search warrant at the singer’s former home on September 17, recovering several pieces of evidence for forensic analysis. Police have stated that D4Vd has cooperated with investigators and is not identified as a suspect at this time.

Fischer added that items found at the property could be relevant to the case and suggested that Rivas may have been dead longer than first believed. “It could go back to as early as January or February,” he said.

An autopsy revealed no obvious cause of death, and toxicology results are pending. The teen’s remains were released to her family on September 23, with funeral services held in early October.

No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
