Actor Kat Graham has confirmed that scenes featuring her portrayal of Diana Ross have been removed from Michael, the upcoming biopic centred on the life of Michael Jackson.

The decision was made due to unspecified legal considerations affecting the final cut of the film.

In a statement shared on social media, Graham explained that several scenes she filmed with the cast were ultimately excluded. She noted that the production team made efforts to retain as much of the story as possible, despite the necessary changes. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is set for release on April 24.

The removal of Diana Ross-related scenes marks the latest in a series of reported edits to the film. Earlier reports indicated that certain storylines involving allegations against Michael Jackson were also cut due to legal restrictions linked to past settlements.

Diana Ross has long been associated with the early narrative surrounding the Jackson 5, although historical accounts suggest that Gladys Knight played a key role in introducing the group to Motown founder Berry Gordy. The inclusion of Ross in the story was widely seen as a marketing decision during the group’s rise to fame.

Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, in the lead role. The cast also includes Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, alongside Miles Teller, Laura Harrier and Larenz Tate.

The film aims to present a comprehensive look at Michael Jackson’s life and career, though recent edits highlight the complexities involved in portraying real-life events within biographical storytelling.
