VTuber and streamer Ironmouse has apologised to fans after discovering that TwitchCon staff allegedly threw away all gifts brought to VTuber meet and greets at this year’s San Diego event.

TwitchCon 2025, the platform’s annual fan and creator convention, aimed to provide a safe and engaging space for streamers and their communities. However, the event has faced widespread criticism following multiple controversies, including reports of safety concerns and mismanagement.

Ironmouse, who hosted the VTuber meet and greet sessions, said she was “heartbroken” to learn that fans’ gifts were discarded. “I deeply apologise to all the VTubers and the fans who had meet and greets at the VTuber booth this year. It breaks my heart to know staff threw out all the gifts. I should have known better than to trust them and taken care of everything ahead of time. I am so sorry everyone,” she wrote on X.

Other VTubers shared similar experiences. Creator Henya described the incident as a “miscommunication or misunderstanding” between Twitch staff and event organisers, confirming that gifts left for her were also disposed of.

Fellow VTuber Elara criticised Twitch’s handling of the situation, suggesting the company must address deeper operational problems. “Twitch fundamentally has some serious issues that they need to address at a core level,” she wrote.

Fans also expressed frustration online, claiming they had followed official gift guidelines, including packaging items in transparent bags. Some reported being told that all gifts were deemed “security risks” by venue staff.

The discarded gifts — many reportedly small items such as stickers or letters — have prompted calls from both fans and creators for Twitch to review its convention policies and improve communication ahead of future events.
