Jackie Tohn reveals what to expect in ‘Nobody Wants This’ season 2
Jackie Tohn opens up about season 2 of Nobody Wants This, her character’s bangs, and her dream musical project

Jackie Tohn is stepping back into the chaos of Nobody Wants This season 2 — and this time, her character Esther Roklov is “going through it.”
Known for her sharp humor and standout delivery, Tohn returns alongside Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, and Timothy Simons in the hit Netflix comedy’s new season, premiering October 23.
Originally meant to appear in only a few episodes, Tohn’s quick wit and chemistry with the cast made Esther an audience favorite. Now, season 2 gives her a bigger, more emotional storyline — complete with a bold new look. “Right when they got back in the writers’ room, someone called me and said, ‘Esther needs bangs,’” laughs Tohn. “The role just got meatier and juicier — and in season 2, it’s that on crack.”
The actress says Esther’s journey this season explores questions of love, choice, and self-identity. “She’s struggling with, ‘Is this the life I would’ve chosen?’” says Tohn. “But she’s still the same fierce, opinionated woman we love.”
Beyond Nobody Wants This, Tohn’s career spans from childhood roles on The Nanny to competing on American Idol and starring in GLOW. Now 45, she says the Netflix hit has been the most fulfilling experience of her career. “It’s made me feel accepted and validated,” she shares.
Tohn also revealed a dream project close to her heart: revamping The Nanny into a musical film. “It’s been my dream since I was born,” she says with a smile.
With Nobody Wants This season 2 about to drop, Jackie Tohn proves she’s more than ready for her next act — and maybe even a revival of Fran Fine’s iconic laugh.
