Adam Driver reveals scrapped 'Star Wars' film 'The Hunt for Ben Solo', fans urge Disney to reconsider
Driver said Disney rejected his Ben Solo film with Steven Soderbergh, as executives “didn’t see how he was alive”

Adam Driver has opened up about The Hunt for Ben Solo, a Star Wars film he developed with Steven Soderbergh that was ultimately turned down by Disney.
The actor, who portrayed Kylo Ren across three films, said the project would have explored Ben Solo’s redemption after The Rise of Skywalker.
Driver told the Associated Press, “I always was interested in doing another Star Wars. I had been talking about doing another one since 2021. Kathleen [Kennedy] had reached out. I always said: ‘With a great director and a great story, I’d be there in a second.’ I loved that character and loved playing him.”
Working with Soderbergh and writer Rebecca Blunt, Driver developed the concept, which Lucasfilm executives praised before Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected it. “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that,” Driver explained.
The decision has drawn criticism online, with fans highlighting the inconsistency given that Emperor Palpatine returned despite being presumed dead. Many social media users have jokingly suggested Disney simply add the line, “Somehow Ben Solo has returned.”
Some fans believe Driver’s recent comments may be a strategic move, echoing Ryan Reynolds’ approach to Deadpool. Reynolds’ leaked test footage famously reignited fan interest and led to the film being green-lit.
While there is no confirmation of a revival, fan demand for The Hunt for Ben Solo continues to grow, with many urging Disney to reconsider. For now, the next confirmed entry in the Star Wars saga is The Mandalorian and Grogu, set for release on May 22, 2026.
