Callum Turner has revealed how he first met his fiancée, Dua Lipa, in what he described as a serendipitous moment sparked by their shared love of reading.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, the British actor explained that he met the pop star before a mutual friend’s birthday celebration in Los Angeles.
“We sat next to each other and realised we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” said Turner. “It’s called Trust [by Hernán Díaz] and I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page.’”
Turner added that the moment felt cinematic. “In the movie version of it I look up to the sky and I’m like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry. And that was really the first moment,” he said.
Their romance first drew attention in early 2024 when they were seen together after the Masters of the Air premiere in London. Later that month, they were spotted sharing a kiss in Los Angeles. The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2025 Met Gala and went public on social media during the Glastonbury Festival.
Earlier this year, Lipa confirmed their engagement in an interview with British Vogue, describing it as “a really special feeling” and expressing her excitement about “growing old together.”
The singer also told Harper’s BAZAAR that she feels “happier than ever,” embracing love with openness and gratitude as she and Turner plan their future together.
