EU calls for restraint in Pak-Afghan clashes

ISLAMABAD:

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas on Friday discussed recent regional and global developments with particular reference to the border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Confirming the phone call, the EU official wrote on her account on X, "I called M Ishaq Dar of Pakistan to condemn all acts of terrorism unequivocally."

During the call, she urged exercising maximum restraint on both sides to avoid civilian casualties.

"Clashes with Afghanistan are taking lives on both sides and risk pushing the region into new instability," she told the foreign minister. "It is vital that the ceasefire is extended and that all parties deescalate," she added.
