Football: Gasperini sacked as Inter lose again

Hapless coach’s tenure lasted just three months.

ROME:
Inter Milan sacked coach Gian Piero Gasperini following the 3-1 Serie A defeat at newly promoted Novara.

The club has been put in the temporary charge of assistants Giuseppe Baresi and Daniele Bernazzani. Gasperini lasted only three months in the job.

Earlier, Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti had strongly hinted that Gasperini was on his way out of the club following the defeat at Novara.

“It’s a difficult situation,” said Moratti. “I haven’t thought about a replacement yet. I didn’t like anything I saw last night.”

Inter have yet to win a match this season, losing away to Novara and Palermo, while they were also beaten  by Trabzonspor in the Champions League.

Earlier, Marco Rigoni’s double had lifted Novara to their first win of the season. Inter’s defence were made to work by Meggiorini and Andrea Mazzarini as Novara dominated the match, despite Esteban Cambiasso reducing the deficit for Inter.
