The Judicial Magistrate East Karachi has dropped the case against Town Chairman Farhan Ghani, brother of Sindh Minister for Labour, Human Resources and Social Protection, Saeed Ghani, in connection with an alleged assault on government employees.

During the hearing at the Judicial Magistrate East’s court, police submitted a C-Class report, requesting the dismissal of the case. The court accepted the police report and ordered that the case against Farhan Ghani and others be dismissed.

The judge noted that the complainant's lawyer also did not object to the request for dismissal. Farhan Ghani, along with co-accused Qamar Ahmed and Shakeel Chandio, had been out on bail in the case.

Earlier, police submitted a report to the anti-terrorism court, describing the incident as a ‘minor altercation’ with no use of any type of arms. The report said that the complainant has withdrawn the case and police were unable to obtain any CCTV footage of the incident, which could prove Ghani guilty.

The report further mentioned that the complainant had failed to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) related to the excavation work being carried out at the time of the incident. Moreover, the complainant could not verify his employment status as a government servant.

Based on lack of substantial evidence and the complainant’s unwillingness to pursue further legal action, the police report recommended relief for the accused.
