Former Good Morning America anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have announced their engagement, three years after their high-profile workplace romance led to their exit from ABC News. The pair shared the news during the October 14 episode of their Amy & T.J. podcast.
“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for a month now,” Robach, 52, told listeners. Holmes, 48, added that they wanted to be the first to share the news themselves. “We learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship,” he said, referencing how their affair first became public in 2022.
Holmes and Robach, who began co-hosting GMA3: What You Need to Know in 2020, became the subject of national attention when media outlets reported on their off-screen relationship in late 2022. At the time, both were married—Robach to Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue and Holmes to attorney Marilee Fiebig.
The controversy resulted in both anchors being removed from the air and, weeks later, parting ways with ABC News. “We all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” a network spokesperson said at the time.
In December 2023, the couple addressed the scandal on the debut episode of their podcast, calling it a “year of hell” but expressing gratitude for having each other’s support. “We have had each other through it all,” Robach said. “It has been the most beautiful relationship I have had in my life.”
Now, the couple’s engagement marks a new chapter in their relationship—one they’re sharing publicly and on their own terms.
