Five kilns sealed over pollution
Five brick kilns in Khanewal have been sealed as part of the ongoing anti-smog drive by the environmental protection department (EPD).
The action was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Director (Environment) Engineer Sarfraz Anjum, with Environmental Inspector Muhammad Amjad leading the Anti-Smog Squad. The sealed kilns were found violating mandatory zigzag technology requirements, resulting in a total fine of Rs400,000.
Additionally, a case has been registered against one kiln owner for breaching smog control regulations.
In a related move, an industrial unit was sealed after its boiler was identified as a source of smog, and a penalty of Rs300,000 was imposed on the management.
