Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon is adding another title to her already formidable résumé - novelist.

The Academy Award-winning actor and producer has co-written a psychological thriller, 'Gone Before Goodbye', with American crime writer Harlan Coben. The book, based on Witherspoon's original idea, will be released globally on October 14, 2025.

The novel follows Maggie McCabe, a disgraced Army combat surgeon who becomes ensnared in a shadowy conspiracy after being offered a mysterious job assisting an elite plastic surgeon.

Set partly in Russia, the story takes a dark turn when her patient vanishes under her care, forcing her into a race to uncover the truth before she becomes the next target.

Early reviews have been glowing. The Los Angeles Times described the book as "a fun ride into a shadow land of the rich elite," praising Witherspoon and Coben's knack for weaving fast-paced suspense with emotional depth.

Adding star power to the anticipation, Michael J Fox shared a photo of himself holding an early copy on Instagram, declaring, "What a read!"

Witherspoon, whose screen credits include 'Big Little Lies', 'Little Fires Everywhere' and 'Cruel Intentions', has already carved out a prominent space in the literary world through her influential Reese's Book Club.

'Gone Before Goodbye' marks her first foray into fiction writing - and given her production company, Hello Sunshine, a screen adaptation seems inevitable.

Coben, known for 'Tell No One' and 'Fool Me Once', brings his trademark twists and tight plotting to the collaboration. Together, the two have crafted a tale of intrigue and redemption that's already being hailed as one of the year's most anticipated releases - a seamless blend of Hollywood storytelling and bestselling literary suspense.
