Charli XCX is stepping further into storytelling with The Moment, a new A24 film based on her own concept.

In her recent interview with Vanity Fair, the British artist described the project as fiction, but also the most truthful depiction of the music industry she’s ever worked on.

Rather than serving as a concert film or documentary, The Moment takes a narrative approach to exploring fame and artistic identity.

Charli said it reflects the emotional landscape that follows major creative success, what happens after an artist’s defining moment, and how public perception collides with personal reality.

While details about the plot remain limited, Charli emphasized that the film isn’t a direct retelling of her own life. Instead, it uses fiction to examine the contradictions and pressures of the music industry.

Collaborators Aidan Zamiri, who directed many of her recent visuals, and writer Bertie Brandes, help shape its stylized, self-aware tone.

In the Vanity Fair interview, Charli reflected on how this new phase of her career continues her pursuit of creative control. She noted that she often avoids industry meetings that compromise her vision, a mindset that also drives her film work.

Produced in partnership with A24, The Moment represents Charli’s next experiment in blending art, performance, and narrative.

Though the release date hasn’t been announced, the project signals her growing role as a multidisciplinary artist, one willing to turn her own world inside out to understand it better.
