Top startups take centre stage at GITEX Global 2025
Pakistan's TechDestination Pavilion was officially inaugurated on Monday at GITEX Global 2025, marking a major milestone in the country's growing role as a global technology hub.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT), the inauguration ceremony was led by Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja. She was accompanied by Additional Secretary and CEO Ignite Faisal Tirmizi, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE Brigadier Nadir, representatives from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), CEO of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) Abu Bakar, National Information Technology Board (NITB) head Faisal Ratyal, and Chairman P@SHA Syed Sajjad. The event drew industry leaders, investors, and international media.
The Pakistan Pavilion serves as a central platform for business-to-business (B2B) meetings, investment networking, partnership announcements, and startup showcases. It offers visitors live demos, tech innovations, and business matchmaking sessions aimed at expanding Pakistan's footprint in global technology trade.
Speaking at the event, Khawaja highlighted the growing global footprint of Pakistan's IT sector. "Pakistan's presence at GITEX Global reflects our confidence, capability, and commitment to a digitally empowered future under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership and the vision of Digital Nation Pakistan," she said. "With a young, skilled workforce and expanding IT exports, Pakistan is ready to play a central role in shaping the global tech economy. The Pakistan Pavilion represents not just our innovation but our invitation to the world to partner in growth."
The ministry stated that it is facilitating the participation of 10 promising start-ups at GITEX, one of the world's largest technology exhibitions. The initiative aims to showcase local entrepreneurial talent, attract international investment, and create business development opportunities.
Following Pakistan's recognition as "Tech Destination of the Year" at GITEX Global 2024, this year's participation marks a bold step forward. More than 20 leading Pakistani IT and tech companies are showcasing their products, services, and digital solutions to a global audience under the national pavilion, the statement added.
At last year's GITEX Global 2024 also in Dubai, Pakistan was named "Tech Destination of the Year", solidifying its capabilities as a global technology hub.
