EPA declares kilns along motorways safe

The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has claimed 100 per cent compliance by brick kilns along the motorways in the province.

According to an environmental compliance report, 108 brick kilns situated along the motorways were inspected and 71 of them were found operating with the zigzag technology, emitting white smoke and meeting environmental standards, while the 37 others were inoperational. Each kiln was geo-tagged, and photographic evidence included in the official record.

With this, the motorway zone achieved 100% environmental compliance.

Senior Provincial Minister Mariyyum Aurangzeb the EPA's approach focused on reform rather than punishment to ensure sustainable results.

Meanwhile, smog control units have been activated across Lahore. Smart air quality stations are monitoring daily air conditions to guide urban traffic and industrial activity planning.

All industrial chimneys are also linked to a CCTV monitoring system.
