PESHAWAR:

Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar has established its first-ever Breast Cancer Screening Centre to provide free screening facilities for early detection of breast cancer to its female staff.

The centre, set up in the hospital's Radiology Department, will offer free screening services for one month. The facility was formally inaugurated by Member of the Board of Governors, Shandana Saad Malik, accompanied by Dr Tahira Nishtar, Chairperson of the Radiology Department and the driving force behind the initiative.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dean and CEO Professor Sahibzada Mahmood Noor, Hospital and Medical Director Dr Muhammad Ibrar Khan, and Associate Hospital Director Tariq Burki.

Speaking at the event, Dr Tahira Nishtar said that more than 1,500 female employees are currently working at LRH. Considering the rising incidence of breast cancer, the hospital decided to arrange regular checkups for its female staff to ensure early diagnosis, which significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery.

She added that all types of tests and screenings will be provided free of cost to the staff. With the establishment of this screening centre, LRH has become the first hospital in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to launch a dedicated breast cancer screening facility for its own female employees.
