TLP protest disrupts traffic, damages vehicles in Karachi

Police deploy to affected areas, restore order, disperse protesters

Supporters of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan staged protests at multiple locations across Karachi on Monday, disrupting traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters.

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers gathered at Nala Stop and North Karachi’s 4K Chowrangi, where they blocked roads and pelted stones, damaging several vehicles.

The demonstrations brought traffic to a standstill, leaving motorists stranded for hours.

Police were deployed to the affected areas to restore order and disperse the protesters.

Earlier, the Sindh government imposed a one-month ban on protests, demonstrations, sit-ins and rallies across the province. Taking into account the law and order situation, authorities have invoked Section 144, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people.

The decision was taken on the recommendation of Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, who, based on reports from various police ranges and zones, advised that immediate measures were required to maintain public order.

According to the official notification, the ban will be enforced immediately across the province and will remain in place for one month.

It states that any breach of the order by an individual or group will give the relevant Station House Officer (SHO) the authority to register a case under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
