Shehbaz to witness Gaza peace deal signing

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Egypt on Monday (today) at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and the signing ceremony of a peace agreement aimed at ending the prevailing crisis in Gaza.

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and other senior ministers during the visit. According to the Foreign Office, the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is the outcome of diplomatic efforts that began on the sidelines of last month's UN General Assembly session.

The prime minister, along with leaders of seven Arab-Islamic countries – Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, and Turkiye – attended a summit-level meeting with President Trump on September 23 to explore avenues for achieving peace in Gaza.

Through a joint statement, these countries welcomed Trump's efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to work with the United States to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, as well as to address the critical humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The prime minister's participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit reflects Pakistan's historic, consistent, and unwavering support for the just cause of the Palestinian people, their right to self-determination, and the pursuit of lasting peace and stability in the region.
