A speeding car overturned near Star Gate on Shahrah-e-Faisal killing three women and injuring a young man, police said.
According to the initial reports, the driver of a high-speed vehicle, bearing registration number BGQ-469, lost control over the steering wheel near Star Gate, as a result the vehicle hit the footpath and flipped over. The accident took place on Sunday morning in which all four occupants of the car — three women and one man — sustained serious injuries.
Police officials said the accident appeared to have occured due to high speed and reckless driving. “The car was moving at a high speed when its driver lost control. One woman died on the spot while the other two women and the man were critically injured,” said Airport Police Section Officer Rehan Zeb.

The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Asma, wife of Ghulam Tariq, her 19-year-old daughter Muntaha, and 22-year-old niece Faryal Shayan. The injured man, Owais, is a relative of the deceased women, all residents of the Liaquat Market area in Malir,” Rehan Zeb said.
He added that the group was travelling from Drigh Road towards Malir when the car hit the footpath and overturned, landing on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle was destroyed completely in the accident.
The police handed over the bodies of the deceased to their families after completing the legal formalities. An investigation is, however, underway to determine the exact cause of the crash, authorities said.
