Singer-songwriter Role Model made his debut as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (NBC, Oct. 12, 2025), performing two songs from the deluxe edition of his second studio album, Kansas Anymore. The 28-year-old artist, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, opened his set with the viral indie pop hit “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” joined by British pop star Charli XCX.

Introduced by SNL host Amy Poehler, Role Model’s performance of “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” followed his tradition of featuring a guest to play the character of Sally. Charli XCX, who was SNL’s musical guest last November, electrified the crowd with her appearance. She danced through the bridge, slipped her sunglasses onto Role Model’s face, blew him a kiss, and walked off to loud cheers from the studio audience.

For his second number, Role Model performed “Some Protector,” a softer, introspective track that contrasts the upbeat energy of his first song. Both tracks are featured on Kansas Anymore (Deluxe), released earlier this year.

In a previous Rolling Stone interview, Pillsbury described Kansas Anymore as a major step forward in his artistic journey, highlighting his personal and musical growth since his 2022 debut album Rx. “I wanted to show that my songwriting and my taste in music had matured,” he explained, noting that his progress on guitar allowed him to write more independently and authentically.

Following his SNL appearance, Role Model is set to perform at Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians live event on Oct. 23 at New York’s Beacon Theatre, alongside artists including María Zardoya of The Marías, Jack Antonoff, and Hayley Williams. He will also begin a run of European tour dates next month.
