Bradley Cooper is confirmed to star alongside Margot Robbie in the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel, a project set to reimagine the origins of the iconic heist franchise. The film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, will take audiences back to 1960s Europe where the roots of the Ocean’s story are expected to unfold. Cooper and Robbie’s collaboration has generated buzz not only because of their star power but also for the creative direction the prequel seems to be taking under Chung, known for his work on Minari and Twisters.

According to production insiders, this new chapter will precede the events of Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 hit, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. That film revitalised the heist genre and inspired two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, as well as the 2018 spin-off Ocean’s Eight led by Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. With the announcement of an Ocean’s Fourteen featuring the original cast reportedly in early development, the prequel adds another intriguing layer to the franchise’s expanding universe.

The script, written by Carrie Solomon, has been described as a sleek European caper infused with old Hollywood glamour. Although Warner Bros. has not yet revealed the title, early details suggest it will blend romance and crime with a tone reminiscent of 1960s spy thrillers. Industry observers expect Robbie’s involvement to bring stylish edge to the story, while Cooper’s casting signals a sophisticated, character-driven approach to the heist formula.

Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment is also attached, further fuelling speculation that the film will feature her signature blend of classic aesthetics and modern sensibility. Cooper, fresh from his festival appearance for Is This Thing On?, continues his run of acclaimed projects as both actor and filmmaker.

With Ocean’s fans already debating what numeral could define the prequel and how it might tie into the broader timeline, anticipation is high. If early reactions are any indication, the combination of Robbie’s charisma, Cooper’s intensity and Chung’s direction could deliver one of 2026’s most stylish blockbusters.
