RAWALPINDI:

The Toshakhana-II case against PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has entered its decisive stage as both submitted their final statements under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code before the court and declined to produce any witnesses or documentary evidence in their defence.

The proceedings were conducted on Thursday inside Adiala Jail by Special Judge (Central) Shah Rukh Arjumand where Imran and Bushra Bibi were presented.

During the hearing, both accused submitted their written responses to the court's questionnaire but opted not to present any defence evidence.

Following the submissions, the court adjourned the hearing until Oct 13, summoning final arguments from both sides, after which the verdict is likely to be reserved.

The hearing was attended by the PTI founder's three sisters, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Senator Mashal Yousafzai, Barrister Ali Zafar, and Salman Akram Raja. Representing Imran and Bushra Bibi were Salm?n Safdar and Qausain Faisal Mufti, while Special Public Prosecutor Umair Majeed Malik appeared on behalf of the FIA.
