Essa and Rais dominate bridge event

The Karachi Bridge Association’s (KBA) team event was dominated by the Essa and Rais teams with 47 points each after the second round at the Aslam Bridge Hall, National Stadium on Sunday.
Ghaffar IV followed closely in second place with 38 points while Rubina4 claimed the third position.
Essa won the first round beating Four Aces 25-4 as Rais defeated Fearsome 22-8 and Rubina4 brushed aside the Attackers 21-9.
In the second round, Essa stood first with 22 points defeating Rubina4 and Rais hit the perfect 25-1 against the Four Aces.
Pair’s event
Twenty-one pairs participated in the KBA’s weekly open pairs event held on Friday. A total of 21 boards were played as per the complete Straight Mitchell Movement in which 11 rounds of two boards each were contested.
Zeenat Azwer and Wajahat Ali Suri were the winners from N-S as they topped the field by scoring 62.50 per cent while Khalid Bin Manzur and Ehsan Rasheed bagged the second place with 61.22 per cent. The third position was taken by Anwar Gheewala and Sarfaraz Ahmed, who finished at 57.41 per cent.
From the E-W, second-seeded pair of Khaled Mohiuddin and Gulzar Ahmed Bilal scored 63.7 per cent followed by Muhammad Yousuf Gheewala and Zafar Zaki at 59.15 per cent while Syed Ameer Hasan and Muhammad Ghufran Ashraf finished third at 57.52 per cent.
