25b-road project to ease S Punjab travel woes
In an effort to overhaul Southern Punjab's transportation infrastructure, the Multan-Vehari dual carriageway project is taking shape, a 95-kilometre concrete artery being constructed at a cost of Rs25 billion.
Known historically as the Old Delhi Road, this corridor snakes through the heart of three districts ie Multan, Khanewal and Vehari, linking agricultural heartlands to urban centres.
Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Kareem Khan visited the project site on Thursday and reviewed the pace and quality of work.
During his visit to Tibba Sultanpur and Garha Morr, Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan inspected ongoing development activities and assessed the construction quality using road ride tests.
Briefing the commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Vehari Imrana Tauqir and Highways Executive Engineer Umair Latif shared detailed updates on project progress, work pace, and quality control measures.
The commissioner said the VehariMaitla Chowk section alone will cost Rs15 billion, fulfilling a long-standing public demand and significantly improving travel convenience and safety across the region.
Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan stressed the need to maintain quality, transparency, and speed in all phases of construction.
