Two WSSB employees abducted in Bannu
Two employees of the Water and Sanitation Services Company Bannu were abducted along with their tractor by unidentified men in Bannu city, while a third managed to escape. The incident comes amid a surge in kidnappings, with eight abduction cases reported in the district within just 24 hours.
According to police, the WSSB workers were collecting garbage in the jurisdiction of Miryan tehsil when they were taken away by unidentified assailants. One employee managed to flee the scene and avoid being kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Bannu police successfully recovered three trucks and their drivers that had been abducted a day earlier by terrorists belonging to Fitna Khawarij near the Jani Khel area.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan directed immediate action. Acting swiftly, police surrounded the area and launched a search operation. Through professional strategy, timely response, advanced tracking technology, and cooperation from local elders, the abducted vehicles and drivers were recovered safely within hours.
DIG commended the police team for their prompt and effective response, emphasizing that Bannu police remain fully alert and prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens.
He reaffirmed that operations against Fitna Khawarij terrorists will continue until all anti-peace elements are completely eliminated from the region.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat, Nazir Khan (PSP), met with a delegation of Betani tribal elders led by Subdivision Betani Mayor Anwar Badshah. The elders assured their complete cooperation with the police in efforts to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
