Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the debut RPG from Sandfall Interactive, has surpassed five million sales since its launch, and the developer is marking the milestone with a major free content update.

The new update, currently in development for all platforms, will introduce a range of additions, including a fresh dungeon, challenging late-game bosses, and customisable costumes for each character in the Expedition. While no release date has been confirmed, Sandfall said that it is aiming to deliver something “worth the wait.”

“We hope the update we’re working on will act as a ‘thank you’ to those fans for their support – please be patient while our team work hard on bringing you something worth the wait,” said creative director Guillaume Broche.

The update will feature a new playable environment that expands the game’s world, along with new enemy encounters and surprises. In addition, players can look forward to expanded localisation support, as the game will be available in Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total to 19 supported languages.

Sandfall also shared a single teaser image, which appears to show a child’s playroom and a drawing of Verso riding atop Esquie. Fans have speculated that this could provide further insight into the characters’ shared history and childhood relationship.

Broche hinted that this update is part of broader plans for the franchise, stating that Clair Obscur is a “franchise name” and that Expedition 33 is “just one story” within its larger universe.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to receive acclaim for its unique art style, combat system, and storytelling depth.
