The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, Rawalpindi Circle, claimed on Wednesday to have apprehended two individuals in separate cases involving the creation of a fraudulent social media identity of a woman for blackmail and the dissemination of defamatory material online aimed at tarnishing a citizen's reputation.
Separate First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered in both cases.
According to agency officials, the first suspect, Taimoor Khan, allegedly created counterfeit Facebook and TikTok accounts in the victim's name, through which he circulated indecent videos and photographs in an attempt to blackmail and harass her.
The suspect is said to have operated a fake Facebook profile under the name "Sadia Shahid" and a TikTok account with the handle @sadiasahjid24_. Following his arrest, a mobile phone was recovered from his possession. A case has been lodged, and further investigations are ongoing to trace and apprehend additional accomplices.
In a separate operation, the agency arrested one Sajid Parvez for allegedly spreading defamatory and obscene material concerning another citizen on social media. Officials reported that Jasim Khan, in collaboration with Sajid Parvez, disseminated objectionable and insulting content about the complainant through a Facebook page titled "Attack Uncovered."
The suspects are accused of damaging the complainant's personal and professional reputation by publishing false and malicious content. During the arrest of Sajid Parvez, two mobile phones were recovered from his residence, and a forensic technical analysis of the devices uncovered objectionable material.
