Bethenny Frankel tells Swifties to ‘get a f–king hobby’ amid post-release hype of Life of a Showgirl

Frankel criticizes Taylor Swift’s devoted fanbase for obsessing over new album, urging balance and perspective

Bethenny Frankel is once again at odds with Taylor Swift’s fanbase, publicly criticizing the intense devotion of the pop star’s most diehard followers.

In a TikTok video posted Tuesday, the former Real Housewives of New York City star urged Swift’s fans — commonly known as Swifties — to “get a f–king hobby,” claiming that idolizing the singer has become an unhealthy obsession for some.

Frankel, 54, used her platform to express concern over what she sees as excessive polarization surrounding Swift, particularly in the wake of the release of The Life of a Showgirl. Drawing a comparison to political partisanship, she questioned why personal opinions about a celebrity should become a defining part of someone’s identity.

“Someone is selling a product — music, entertainment. People buy it or they don’t. It doesn’t need to be that deep,” she said, adding that not everyone has to take a strong stance. “What if you’re like me and in the middle? You don’t think about it that much. You just don’t care deeply either way.”

The former Bravo star concluded the video by whispering, “Get a f–king hobby,” and later “liked” a comment suggesting it might be time for a long break from Swift’s presence in pop culture.

While some users echoed Frankel’s sentiments, others fired back in defense of Swift, with one replying, “My hobby is listening to Taylor Swift.”

This isn’t Frankel’s first run-in with Swift’s fanbase. In September 2023, she criticized Swift for what she described as “over-the-top” behavior while supporting her now-fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce, at football games. Frankel warned that Swift risked losing her identity by becoming too wrapped up in her partner’s world.

Despite previous criticism, Frankel defended Swift earlier this year when the singer was booed at the Super Bowl, calling the crowd’s behavior “mean-spirited” and harmful for young girls.
