Warner Bros. has announced a global theatrical re-release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to mark the film’s 25th anniversary. Originally released on November 16, 2001, the movie launched one of the most successful franchises in entertainment history. Now, fans worldwide will have the opportunity to revisit the magical journey on the big screen.
To commemorate the milestone, Warner Bros. is rolling out a series of themed events, products, and promotions. A glowing Patronus-inspired 25th anniversary logo will appear on limited-edition merchandise, including clothing, toys, and collectibles. Retail partners will also feature exclusive promotions for those purchasing anniversary-themed products.
The year-long celebration will include several themed activations. From March to May, “Butterbeer Season” will offer fans special beverages and snacks at participating locations. July will spotlight Harry Potter’s birthday with digital content and contests. August and September will feature “Back to Hogwarts” promotions focused on school life in the wizarding world. The festivities will conclude with a “Christmas in the Wizarding World” experience during the holiday season, complete with themed décor and seasonal offers.
The original Harry Potter film series grossed $7.7 billion globally, with eight main films, three Fantastic Beasts spin-offs, a stage play, video games, and theme park attractions. This re-release serves as a nostalgic reminder of the franchise's beginnings and its enduring cultural impact.
Looking ahead, Warner Bros. confirmed development of a new Harry Potter television series for HBO Max, expected to premiere in 2027. The show will closely adapt J.K. Rowling’s original books and aims to provide a deeper narrative experience for both longtime fans and new viewers.
Fans can participate in the 25th anniversary celebration by attending local screenings, purchasing exclusive merchandise, and sharing moments online using the hashtag #HarryPotter25.
