Fire guts fabric store near North Karachi's Bara Market

A fire broke out at a fabric store near Bara Market in North Karachi on Wednesday, reducing cloth and other merchandise worth millions to ashes, according to rescue officials.

The blaze erupted in Sector 5-C/2 of North Karachi, prompting an immediate response from Rescue 1122 teams, ambulances, and fire brigade units, who rushed to the scene upon receiving reports of the incident.

After an intense operation, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and initiated cooling efforts to prevent re-ignition. Despite the swift response, rescue officials confirmed that the shop’s entire stock, including expensive fabric and other goods worth millions, was completely destroyed.

Station House Officer Sarfaraz Rajput of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Police Station said the fire started in a ground-floor fabric shop located beneath a residential building near Bara Market.

Initial investigations indicated that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Authorities said a detailed assessment of the losses and the exact cause of the blaze is currently underway.
