Hilaria Baldwin recalls ultimatum to Alec Baldwin about meeting his daughter Ireland
Hilaria Baldwin has shared the ultimatum she gave husband Alec Baldwin early in their relationship regarding his daughter, Ireland Baldwin.
Speaking on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, the 41-year-old yoga instructor said she made her intentions clear before meeting Alec’s daughter from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.
“I told Alec before I met her, I said, ‘If she doesn’t like me, I’m not gonna stay because I can’t hurt a family,’” Hilaria recalled. “And he gets mad. He’s all mad at me then. He gets mad at me when I say it now.”
The couple married in 2012 and now share seven children: Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, María, and Ilaria. Hilaria said that maintaining harmony within the family is vital to her, adding, “Always be respectful about her mom. Always understand that it’s Alec, Ireland and Kim. And I can come in and be a guest.”
She praised Ireland for being “extraordinarily welcoming” when they met, noting that their close relationship developed over time. “Ireland has really seen me, and Ireland has seen how much I care about her dad and her family and her,” she said.
Ireland, now 29, recently shared a heartfelt post on Instagram praising her stepmother, calling her “eccentric and totally bat sh-t crazy (in a fun way)” and crediting her for “saving my dad’s life” and strengthening their family bond. Hilaria responded with emotion, writing, “I’m crying. I love you with all my heart.”
The Baldwin family continues to share a strong connection, with Hilaria confirming that Ireland will appear in the audience to support her on “Dancing With The Stars.” She added, “I just feel very lucky to be pulled into this huge family that is very close.”
