Ed Sheeran had the perfect response to Taylor Swift’s recent revelation about how he learned of her engagement, and it’s exactly as funny as fans expected.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Swift shared that the “Shape of You” singer only found out about her engagement to Travis Kelce on Instagram.

The 14-time Grammy winner burst into laughter when Fallon read the statement aloud during the “That’s So True” segment and admitted, “That’s so true.”

Swift quickly defended herself, explaining that Sheeran’s off-the-grid lifestyle makes him notoriously difficult to contact. “He doesn’t even have a phone,” she said with a grin. “And this is one thing I love about him, it’s eccentric.”

The Fortnight singer added that when she scrolled through her contacts to decide who to call with the big news, Sheeran’s name wasn’t there.

“You have to email him,” she explained. “If you want to set up a FaceTime, he has to find an iPad. They have to give it to him like he’s a child that you give the iPad to.”

Not long after the clip went viral, Sheeran confirmed the story in the most quintessentially “Ed” way possible, leaving a cheeky comment on one of the videos: “Hello from my allotted iPad time, this is factual.”

The witty remark instantly went viral, with fans praising the singer’s unbothered humor. “I wish I didn’t have a phone, now that’s a flex,” one user wrote. Another joked, “He’s an 8-year-old kid while also being 80.”

Others celebrated the duo’s long-running friendship, which has spanned more than a decade. “This is such a great friendship,” one fan commented. “Ed is such a good friend,” another added.

Swift announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce back in August with a sweet Instagram post captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
