Selena Gomez’s kidney donor Francia Raisa speaks out after being left off wedding guest list

Francia Raisa responds to feud rumours with Selena Gomez, speaking out after missing the star’s wedding

Francia Raisa, who famously donated a kidney to Selena Gomez in 2017, has spoken out about long-standing rumours of a feud between the two. In a new interview, the 37-year-old actress dismissed speculation as nothing more than gossip, while also subtly acknowledging she did not attend Gomez’s recent wedding to producer Benny Blanco.

Speaking at a bookstore event, Raisa wished Gomez well ahead of her marriage. “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her. She has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her,” she said, referencing her life-saving organ donation.

The remarks come after years of speculation about the pair’s friendship. In 2022, rumours of a rift began when Gomez described Taylor Swift as her only industry friend, prompting Raisa to comment “Interesting” on Instagram before deleting it. Gomez later responded, insisting she hadn’t meant to exclude anyone. Both women downplayed feud talk in 2023, with Gomez calling Raisa’s kidney donation an “unbelievably overwhelming” gift and Raisa clarifying she was never forced into it.

In her latest comments, Raisa compared her act of donation to giving to charity, stressing that it was not about creating a permanent bond but about saving a life. She also pushed back against reports that she had been angry at Gomez for allegedly smoking after surgery, calling the claims “nonsense” and “rumours.”

Despite their reconciliation, fans were quick to notice Raisa’s absence at Gomez’s star-studded wedding, which was attended by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Zoe Saldaña and the Hilton sisters. Around the same time, Raisa shared a video of herself dancing with a choreographer, suggesting she was elsewhere.

Raisa added that while she and Gomez have drifted apart at times, their friendship remains intact. “No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it,” she said.

Her decision to speak up highlights the ongoing fascination with the pair’s relationship, which continues to draw scrutiny years after their life-changing operation.
