Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher season 4, teasing one of the most pivotal and unsettling moments from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. The footage offers a first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, following Henry Cavill’s exit after season 3.
The trailer continues the story from the previous season’s finale, where Ciri (Freya Allan) was separated from Geralt and Yennefer and stranded in a barren desert.
Season 4 will follow Geralt as he assembles allies to cross the Continent in search of her. Meanwhile, Ciri encounters a group of thieves known as the Rats and assumes a false identity, calling herself “Falka.”
The teaser suggests that Ciri’s arc will take a darker turn. A voice warns, “She’s not who she says she is,” indicating that her secret may soon be exposed.
Viewers familiar with The Time of Contempt, Sapkowski’s second Witcher book, will recognise a key storyline involving the Rats and a character named Kayleigh (Fabian McCallum).
In the novel, Kayleigh attempts to assault Ciri before being stopped by Mistle (Christelle Elwin), sparking a complicated relationship between the two girls.
While Netflix has not confirmed whether this event will appear on screen, Allan has previously indicated that season 4 will explore a difficult romantic dynamic for Ciri.
“She has her first experience with romance, if you can even call it that, because it’s not a good relationship,” Allan told Elle in 2024. “She goes into a very dark part of herself that I think is going to be terrifying to look at.”
The Witcher season 4 premieres on Netflix on October 30 2025, continuing the fantasy saga’s adaptation of Sapkowski’s acclaimed novels and marking Hemsworth’s debut as the monster hunter Geralt.
