Instagram is stepping into the awards arena with Rings, a new program created to celebrate the creativity of its more than three billion users.

The initiative will honor 25 standout creators with both physical and digital “rings,” symbolizing excellence on the platform.

The physical rings are designed by British fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, while the digital version appears as a golden ring around the winner’s Instagram Stories, replacing the platform’s signature orange-red-pink gradient.

Winners will also be able to customize their profile background color and receive a dedicated spotlight within the app, a first for any user.

Judges for the inaugural Rings include Instagram head Adam Mosseri, fashion partnerships lead Eva Chen, designer Marc Jacobs, director Spike Lee, artist KAWS, actress Yara Shahidi, makeup legend Pat McGrath, and rugby star Ilona Maher.

Together, they helped narrow down billions of creators to just 25 winners who represent innovation across fashion, beauty, sports, art, and entertainment.

“We felt that it was time to have an award that recognizes people who take creative chances on our platform,” said Chen. “These people are cultural catalysts who spark conversations and inspire others to express themselves.”

Instagram says the goal is to make Rings an annual celebration akin to the Oscars or Grammys. a lasting tradition that honors creativity and storytelling in the digital age.
