Yacht Club Games has announced that its upcoming title Mina the Hollower will no longer be released in October as originally planned, confirming that the game has been indefinitely delayed to allow more time for development.

The studio revealed the decision in a blog post on Monday, stating: “This week, our team made a tough decision: we decided to delay Mina the Hollower. The entire crew has been working tirelessly day and night to finish development for release on Oct 31st, but we’re just not quite there yet. This isn’t a major delay, it’s just a stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine.”

Mina the Hollower marks the first new property from Yacht Club Games since the release of Shovel Knight over ten years ago. The studio describes the project as a top-down action-adventure inspired by Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, featuring combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving within an interconnected world.

The developer added that it will not announce a new release date until the game has been submitted to platforms. “We don’t want to announce another release date until it’s submitted to platforms, so please hang tight as we reach the finish line,” the studio wrote. “The game is so close to being done – we’re playing it from start to finish every day.”

In the meantime, the team continues to work on art, sound, localisation, and final quality assurance. The delay places Mina the Hollower among several titles adjusting release schedules this autumn, joining Moonlighter 2 and Kingmakers, which also moved from their planned October launches.

While fans may have to wait a little longer, Yacht Club emphasised that the decision was made to ensure the finished game meets its highest standards.
