Achakzai, Nasir named opposition leaders

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allied opposition parties on Monday reached consensus on nominations for the leader of the opposition in both houses of Parliament, naming Mehmood Khan Achakzai for the National Assembly and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri for the Senate.

The opposition members in the National Assembly have formally nominated Achakzai for the office of leader of the opposition. A written communication in this regard has been sent to the NA speaker, requesting immediate appointment to the vacant position.

The NA speaker has been requested to finalise the appointment process expeditiously to ensure smoother functioning of parliamentary proceedings.
