IHC disposes of Rana Shamim contempt case
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday disposed of the case concerning former Gilgit-Baltistan chief judge Rana Shamim's alleged affidavit in favour of former PM Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case after three years.
The court disposed of the contempt case citing ineffectiveness. Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar heard the proceedings against Rana Shamim and others.
Lawyer Aamir Abdullah adopted the stance that Shamim had submitted an apology letter, after which the case was not scheduled, now this case has become ineffective. The deputy attorney general noted that the case was taken up after a long gap. Only Shamim had been indicted, and in previous hearings, he submitted an apology to the court.
