
Ali Hassan, an accused businessman allegedly kidnapped and murdered his business partner for money, the investigation officer told the Anti-Terrorism Court during a hearing on Monday. The case was heard at Special ATC Court No six, situated in the Anti-Terrorism Complex inside Karachi Central Jail.
The investigation officer Mohsin Hussain Zaidi recorded his detailed statement before the court and presented critical findings of the case.
According to the IO, Ali Hassan was arrested on February 23, 2018, following a tip-off from a confidential informant. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and identified the crime scene.
Acting on his disclosure, police excavated the kitchen of an office, where they recovered a buried body from two to four feet deep. The deceased was identified as Asfar Imtiaz, the accused's business partner. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Ali Hassan also revealed that he had informed his father, Syed Sakhawat Mohsin, about the murder. Based on this information, his father was arrested from North Karachi.
DNA samples were collected from the complainant and his wife to aid in the investigation.
The IO submitted a request under Section 21-H of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 for recording the accused's confessional statement. SP Tauqeer was appointed by the AIG to oversee the process, during which Ali Hassan confessed before the SP.
