BAJAUR:

In a district where until recently terrorists deliberately targeted girls' schools, a retired schoolteacher continues his mission of educating children even after his retirement without much pomp and show.

Rahim Gul, a primary school teacher from the remote area of Bagh Arang in Tehsil Utman Khel, Bajaur tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, retired in 2022 after serving for 39 years. However, even after retirement, he continues to teach children voluntarily at the same school, driven purely by his passion for education and devotion to serve his people.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Rahim Gul said that he teaches for the sake of Allah's pleasure and considers education a noble mission rather than a mere profession.

Having begun his teaching career in 1983, Rahim Gul's lifelong commitment to educating young minds has made him a source of inspiration for others in the community. His selfless efforts are helping to spread the light of learning in an area that has long struggled against the challenges to education including terrorism, understaffing, underfunding as well as mismanagement.
