Forest land to be cleared of encroachers
Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has issued directives for reclaiming encroached forest land and the implementation of sustainable, result-oriented plantation campaigns across Faisalabad division.
Chairing a meeting to review progress in the forestry and agriculture sectors, the commissioner emphasised the dual objectives of environmental protection and food security.
During a briefing, forest officials informed the commissioner that 135 acres of forest land had been reclaimed in Jaranwala over the past year.
Additionally, nearly 100,000 saplings have been planted across the division as part of ongoing afforestation efforts.
Commissioner Anwar said all available resources must be employed to retrieve remaining encroached forest lands.
He also stressed the need to establish an effective monitoring mechanism to ensure the survival and healthy growth of newly planted trees.
He instructed forest officials to prepare a sustainable and practical plan for the upcoming plantation campaign, with the aim of providing the public a cleaner and healthier environment while addressing climate change challenges.
