A local court on Saturday approved a petition filed by a woman seeking legal action against her former husband for harassment, including the creation and distribution of explicit and indecent videos and photographs.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq Chaudhry directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Naseerabad Police Station to register a case and initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the accused, Tariq Khan.
According to the petitioner, Mehwish Shehzadi, her former husband had previously subjected her to sexual assault. A criminal case was registered against him on the orders of the court. Following his arrest, he married her under court direction, and the couple had a son.
However, after she withdrew her statement and he was acquitted, he allegedly recorded indecent videos and photographs of her and subsequently divorced her.
The woman further alleged that Tariq Khan is now blackmailing her by threatening to send these videos to her parents and has issued threats to kill her. The alleged motive is linked to a pending case she has filed in the family court for the recovery of her dower (Haq Mehr) and dowry, as stipulated in the marriage contract. She claims he is pressuring her to withdraw the case and forgo her legal entitlements.
Additionally, the petitioner accused Tariq Khan's brother, Waseem Khanreportedly a serving police officerof threatening her with severe consequences, including false criminal charges or even physical harm, should she refuse to withdraw the family case. The petitioner sought protection and requested that the court order immediate legal action against the accused.
