Woman visiting ailing daughter killed by 'stray bullet'

A woman was killed and a man injured by stray bullets near JPMC on Friday, triggering outrage among citizens over the deteriorating law and order situation in the metropolis.
According to rescuers, the deceased was identified as 50-year-old Fahmida, who had come to the JPMC's Gynaecology Ward to visit her ailing daughter. Police said the woman was walking outside the ward on the second floor when she was struck in the chest by a stray bullet. She was rushed to Emergency Department, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
The second victim, identified as Razzaq, a labourer by profession, was injured while walking towards a nearby tea stall at the time of the incident.
According to the SHO of Saddar police station, two unidentified armed men exchanged fire outside the hospital premises while fleeing the scene. During the exchange, stray bullets entered the hospital building and struck both victims.
Speaking to the media, Rab Nawaz, the victim's son-in-law, said that Fahmida was a resident of Al-Brahim Society Phase 2, located in Malir 15, with ancestral roots in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab. Her daughter had been admitted to the Gynaecology Ward just a day earlier.
