IHC rejects bail pleas in APP corruption case
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed on Friday the bail petitions of two accused individuals, including Associated Press of Pakistan (APP)'s former Executive Director Adnan Akram Bajwa, in connection with the ongoing APP mega corruption case.
Following the court's ruling, officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immediately detained both suspects within the court premises.
The matter was heard by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, who presided over the petitions filed by Adnan Akram Bajwa and Shahid Latif. Representing APP, Legal Advisers Rana Roheel and Advocate Khurram Baig appeared before the court.
Presenting his arguments, Rana Roheel submitted that Bajwa had unlawfully authorised the transfer of provident fund monies, after which co-accused individuals allegedly diverted millions of rupees, earmarked as employees' savings, into unauthorised accounts.
