Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have separated after nearly 28 years of marriage, as per PEOPLE. The couple, who married in 1997 and share two daughters — social media influencer Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli — are currently living apart and “taking a break from their marriage,” according to a statement from Loughlin’s representative, Elizabeth Much. No legal divorce proceedings are underway at this time.

The split comes several years after the couple became embroiled in the high-profile college admissions scandal that captured national attention. In 2019, Loughlin and Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 to secure their daughters’ admissions to the University of Southern California by falsely presenting them as crew recruits. Neither daughter had participated in the sport.

In May 2020, both pleaded guilty to charges of wire and mail fraud. Loughlin was sentenced to two months in federal prison, while Giannulli received a five-month sentence. Loughlin was released in December 2020, shortly before completing her sentence.

Following the scandal, Loughlin gradually returned to television. In 2021, she reprised her When Calls the Heart role in the spinoff When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas. Since then, she’s appeared in several films for Great American Family, including Fall Into Winter (2023) and A Christmas Blessing (2023), and more recently had roles in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Blue Bloods, and On Call.

In her first major interview since the scandal, featured in First for Women in April 2024, Loughlin spoke about forgiveness and resilience without directly addressing the admissions case. “Stuff happens to everyone,” she said. “We’ve all been in positions to ask for forgiveness… you have to learn and know how to give forgiveness, too.”

Reflecting on her personal growth, Loughlin added, “There’s beauty in life, but there’s also hardship… You just have to pick yourself up.”

Earlier this year, the couple listed their Hidden Hills mansion for $16.5 million, having purchased it in 2020 for $9.5 million.

The future of their relationship remains uncertain, but for now, Loughlin and Giannulli are officially separated.
