Taylor Swift fans believe the singer may be preparing a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) during its Season 51 premiere on October 4, where Bad Bunny will host and Doja Cat will serve as the musical guest.
The speculation comes as part of Swift’s promotional campaign for her new album The Life of a Showgirl, set for release on October 3. She has already confirmed appearances on The Graham Norton Show (October 3), The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (October 6), and Late Night with Seth Meyers (October 8). However, no SNL date has been officially announced.
Fans point to several clues fuelling the theory. Taylor Nation, her official fan engagement team, shared a “Time Card of a Showgirl” outlining her late-night appearances. While most dates were filled, October 4 displayed only the word “Standby,” coinciding with the SNL standby line opening at 7 p.m.
Adding to the speculation, TikTok users highlighted potential connections between Bad Bunny and Swift. The Puerto Rican star recently filmed a scene in Happy Gilmore 2 with Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, involving honey — also the name of a track on Swift’s new album. Some suggest this could signal a duet performance of “Honey” during the show.
A promotional teaser from SNL has also drawn attention. Fans claimed they recognised the voices of Kelce and Selena Gomez in the clip, with some believing Swift herself could be heard saying “Standby.” The orange colour scheme of the promo also mirrors the visual theme used for The Life of a Showgirl.
While SNL has not confirmed Swift’s involvement, the combination of Easter eggs and her history of surprise appearances has fans convinced that she may join Bad Bunny and Doja Cat during the live broadcast.
