LAHORE:

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Lahore to Toronto could not depart on Thursday due to a technical fault caused by an oil leak from the aircraft's engine, causing great inconvenience to passengers.

The same aircraft, carrying over 300 passengers, had arrived in Lahore from Toronto on Wednesday at around 3:30 pm. It was supposed to transport another 300 passengers from Lahore to Toronto at 4 am on Thursday.

The aircraft had been recently repaired for international flights to Toronto.

The issue was first detected by ground engineers during post-landing inspection and could not be resolved till filing of the report.

A special engineering team from Karachi was to travel to Lahore to repair the fault, PIA sources confirmed.

"The technical issue is being addressed. As soon as the repair work is completed, the aircraft will be cleared for departure," a PIA spokesperson said, adding that engineers in Lahore are working to remove the fault.
