Actress Jaime King has officially confirmed her engagement to investment banker Austin Sosa, two years after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Kyle Newman. During her September 30 appearance on the Juicy Scoop podcast, the Hart of Dixie star shared the news, stating, “We met through mutual friends. It is exciting.”
The engagement marks a new chapter for King following a series of legal and personal challenges. In 2020, King filed for divorce from Newman after 13 years of marriage. Their highly publicized custody battle concluded earlier this year, when Newman was granted sole physical custody of their two sons, James, 11, and Leo, 9.
According to court documents obtained by E! News, Newman alleged King struggled with substance abuse and failed to seek treatment. These claims were part of a response to a domestic violence prevention petition filed by King, who denied having addiction issues. As part of the court’s ruling, King was ordered to complete a six-month rehabilitation program, weekly drug testing, aftercare, a two-step program, and a 26-week parenting course.
Shortly after the custody decision, King also addressed a separate legal matter involving a landlord’s lawsuit, which claimed she owed over $42,000 in unpaid rent. In a statement to Us Weekly in March, she said the issue had been “resolved privately,” adding, “I am currently focused on what matters most: my children.”
Despite recent hardships, King has expressed gratitude for her loved ones, including Sosa. In June, she shared family photos on Instagram, thanking friends and family by name, including Austin. “My God, I am the luckiest and most great mother ever,” she wrote.
As of now, representatives for King and Sosa have not responded to media inquiries regarding the engagement.
