Ghost Rider rumored to return in Avengers Doomsday

A new rumor suggests Ghost Rider could join Avengers Doomsday, sparking debate over Nicolas Cage or Ryan Gosling

A new rumor has surfaced suggesting that Ghost Rider may appear in Avengers: Doomsday, potentially marking the character’s long-awaited return to the big screen.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK), Marvel Studios may be planning a surprise cameo for the Spirit of Vengeance in its upcoming ensemble film. If true, this would be Ghost Rider’s first theatrical appearance in nearly 15 years, following Nicolas Cage’s portrayal in two standalone films released in the mid-2000s. The character has also appeared on television in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though its canon status within the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains disputed.

The rumor has reignited speculation about which version of Ghost Rider could join the MCU. Some fans believe Cage could reprise his role as Johnny Blaze, with Marvel integrating his version into the expanding multiverse. Cage has remained connected to major studio projects in recent years, which has only fueled theories of his potential return.

However, he is not the only name linked to the role. Earlier this year, reports circulated that Ryan Gosling had been considered to take on the mantle of Ghost Rider in Avengers: Doomsday or in a future Marvel project. Gosling’s existing ties to Disney, including his role in Star Wars: Starfighter, have lent credibility to speculation that he could make his Marvel debut in the near future.

Marvel Studios has yet to confirm Ghost Rider’s involvement, and no official casting announcements have been made. Still, with many key MCU heroes absent from Avengers: Doomsday’s confirmed lineup so far, fans believe additional surprises are likely being held back.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release in December 2026.
