PMD warns of drier north, hotter season ahead
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that the June-August monsoon brought normal to above-normal rainfall across most parts of the country, with nearly 10 major rain-bearing systems leading to severe flooding in northern and eastern regions.
However, the upcoming season is expected to bring a contrasting pattern.
According to PMD, below-normal rainfall is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and northern Punjab, while near-normal rainfall is forecast for Sindh, southern Balochistan and southern Punjab, conditions that are expected to keep the overall situation stable.
